Welcome to the MPhil in Accounting programme at University of Professional Studies, Accra. This programme is designed to produce highly competent accounting scholars and professionals with strong research, analytical, and ethical capabilities.

The curriculum combines advanced accounting theory, corporate reporting, auditing, taxation, public sector accounting, and contemporary research methodologies to prepare students for careers in academia, policy analysis, consultancy, and professional practice.

Our faculty are committed to providing rigorous academic training that promotes critical thinking, scholarly writing, ethical conduct, and innovative research. Students are encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of accounting knowledge and practice both within Ghana and internationally.

Philosophy and Objectives of the Program:

The main aim of the programme is to train human resource in Accounting, with the focus on teaching and research in the fields of Accountancy. The objectives of the programme are to:

  1. Provide an in-depth understanding and mastery of the theories, methods and practices of Accounting as an academic discipline and a profession.
  2. Equip students with research methodologies, techniques and analytical framework as well as statistical packages needed for the accounting discipline.
  • Develop student’s critical thinking, scholarly writing and presentation skills as well as their ability to publish in ranked scientific journals.
  1. Equip students with ethical values and principles required of a researcher to be able to carry out accounting research and practice in an ethical manner.
  2. Prepare students for teaching and research careers in the public and private sectors to make contributions to the advancement of the accounting discipline.
