ACCESS PROGRAMME
All prospective candidates without any prior qualification of any tertiary institution certificate or completion of Level one (1) of a professional programme should be applying through the Access programme. The Access programme deals with the foundation level of the professional programmes in UPSA. A student qualifies for the main IPS Professional Route after he/she has passed all foundation examination modules.
The admission requirement for the Access to the under listed programmes are as follows;
ICAG/ACCA/CIMA/CIB/CIM
General Entry Requirements
• West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
• Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)
• General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)
• American High School Grade 12 with at least a Final Grade Point of 3.0
• General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE)/ Cambridge GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level
Institute of Chartered Accountant, Ghana – Level 2
• Upon a successful completion of the first level of ICAG (four modules)
• A successful completion of HND in Accountancy or management from an accredited Technical University or polytechnic in Ghana and beyond
• A successful completion of a first or second degree in accountancy and management from a recognized accredited university.
Institute of Chartered Accountant – Level 3
• Upon a successful completion of the required number of level 2 papers including exemptions of papers if any.
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – Level 2 (Applied Skill)
• Upon a successful completion of applied knowledge level (three modules)
• A successful completion of HND in Accountancy or Management from an accredited Technical University or Polytechnic in Ghana and beyond
• A successful completion of a first or second degree in accountancy and management from a recognized accredited university
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – Level 3 (Strategic Professionals)
• Upon a successful completion of the required number of applied skills papers including exemptions of papers if applicable.
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – Level 2 (Operational)
• Upon completion of the entry qualification level, that is CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – Level 3 (Management)
• Upon successful completion of the Operational level, that is CIMA Certificate Diploma in Management Accounting
• Holders of HND or First Degree from an accredited University
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – Level 4 (Strategic)
• Upon successful completion of the Management level, that is CIMA Certificate Advance Diploma in Management Accounting
• Holders of Second Degree from an accredited University
Chartered Institute of Marketing – Level 6 (Diploma in Marketing)
• A successful completion of Level 4 papers, that is, Certificate in Marketing
• Holders of HND or First Degree certificates from any recognised accredited Institutions
Chartered Institute of Marketing – Level 7 (Post Graduate Diploma)
• A successful completion of level 6, that is, Certificate or Diploma in Marketing
• Holders of Second Degrees from any recognised accredited University
Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA)/Chartered Governance Institute
There are Four (4) ways of getting the ICSA qualification:
Part One: This route is for candidates with university entrance qualifications. However, candidates with Law or Finance undergraduate degrees may be eligible for exemption from the law or finance module. MBA graduates also start at Part One but will be assessed for other exemptions depending on their MBA degree programmes.
Foundation Programme Entry – This is for candidates who are not eligible to start at Part One. i.e. candidates without university entry qualifications or other degrees at undergraduate or graduate levels. Foundation level qualification is equivalent to first-year undergraduate level.
Professional Entry – Accountants or lawyers with up to five years’ professional experience start at Part One and may be eligible for exemption from two modules.
• Fast Track Professional Entry – Accountants or lawyers with more than five years’ experience may only need to complete two modules.
