Welcome to the MSc Energy Economics and Finance programme at UPSA. The global energy landscape is undergoing rapid transformation, creating increasing demand for professionals with expertise in energy economics, finance, sustainability, and policy analysis.
This programme is designed to provide students with a strong understanding of the economic, financial, and policy dimensions of the energy sector. Through a multidisciplinary curriculum, students develop competencies in energy valuation, project finance, renewable energy finance, environmental sustainability, risk management, and global energy markets.
Our objective is to produce graduates who can critically analyze energy market dynamics, develop innovative financing solutions, and contribute to sustainable energy development both locally and internationally.

Objectives of the Programme
The objectives of the MSc Energy Economics and Finance programme are to:
- Develop students’ problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to address complex uncertainties in energy markets, including supply and demand dynamics, investment decisions, and emerging market trends.
- Equip students with the skills to conduct financial modeling and manage risks associated with energy projects.
- Equip students with the tools to evaluate and design effective energy policies that balance economic and financial viability with environmental sustainability
- Provide insights into geopolitical factors affecting energy economics, international energy markets and cross-border energy finance
- Equip students with the ability to integrate ethical considerations and sustainability principles into the development and management of energy projects, taking into account their social and environmental impacts
Learning Outcomes of the Programme
At the end of the MSc Energy Economics and Finance programme, students will be able to:
- Analyse complex uncertainties in energy markets, including supply and demand dynamics, investment decisions, and emerging market trends, to demonstrate problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Apply financial modelling techniques and evaluate risk management strategies to address challenges in energy projects
