Welcome to the University of Professional Studies, Accra MPhil in Management programme. This programme is designed to develop high-level research capabilities and strategic analytical skills necessary for addressing complex contemporary management challenges.

Programme Philosophy

The proposed programme, MPhil in Management, is structured to develop the capacities of  students for higher-level research and business case analyses which will be applied to teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate level.  The programme will assist students to gain in-depth knowledge in various areas of management especially competitive strategy, resource utilization, and value creation in both the public and private sectors. It will furher equip students with the requisite theoretical background and methodological skills for successful careers at institutions of higher learning and industry, in an environment that provides an opportunity for discourse and exchange of ideas between students, faculty and industry. The MPhil in Management programme offers students an interdisciplinary environment towards the review and discovery of creative ideas and the development of analytical skills critical for the effective and efficient resolution of complex contemporary management problems.

Philosophy of the Programme

The aim of the programme is to develop students’ research skills and capabilities to conduct rigorous academic research in Management with a focus on theory and practice in national and global development to enable them to lead, manage, and solve related problems.

Programme Objectives

The objectives of the intended MPhil in Management programme are to:

 

  1. Analyze the theories that are used to conduct research in the field of management.
  2. Evaluate research tools for the development of new theoretical concepts, framework. and their relevant application in the field of management.
  3. Create relevant research methodologies, techniques, analytical frameworks and their relevant application within the field of management.
  4. Develop original, independent and critical thinking skills for the development of new theory in the specialized fields of management.
  5. Critically review ethical principles relevant to contemporary management practices across different sectors of businesses.
  6. Develop students’ skills in scholarly writing, presentation and publishing of their research results in ranked scientific journals.

At the end of the MPhil in Management, students will be able to:
