Welcome Message from the Programme Coordinator
Welcome to the Master of Business Administration in Assets and Wealth Management at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). This programme represents a significant milestone in our Faculty’s commitment to producing finance professionals of the highest calibre — graduates who are not only technically proficient but also strategically minded and ethically grounded.
Ghana’s financial sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by digital innovation, regulatory reform, and growing integration into global capital markets. The demand for specialists in asset management, wealth advisory, pension fund management, and investment strategy has never been greater. This programme has been carefully designed to meet that demand, equipping you with the analytical tools, professional competencies, and interdisciplinary insights needed to navigate and lead in this dynamic environment.
Over two years and four semesters, you will engage with cutting-edge knowledge in investment and portfolio management, financial derivatives, ESG investing, digital finance, and beyond — anchored by core MBA competencies in strategy, leadership, and research. I warmly welcome you to this community of learners and future leaders, and I look forward to accompanying you on this journey of professional transformation.
Philosophy of the Programme
The MBA in Assets and Wealth Management at UPSA is grounded in the conviction that a world-class postgraduate programme must be simultaneously rigorous in its academic foundations and responsive to the practical realities of the financial industry. The programme is designed to produce graduates equipped with in-depth knowledge of both the theoretical architecture and the applied dimensions of assets and wealth management, enabling them to operate effectively across banking, investment, insurance, and regulatory environments.
As a public university mandated under the UPSA Act, Act 850 of 2012, UPSA is committed to introducing and placing emphasis on courses relevant to the aspirations of Ghanaians in the applied sciences. This programme responds to a growing national and global demand for competent finance professionals with expertise in fund management, trust funds, venture capital, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and digital finance. The implementation of the Public Financial Management Act (Act 921 of 2016) and the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (Act 815 of 2011) requires skilled practitioners who can navigate Ghana’s complex financial landscape with confidence.
The programme adopts a critical, interdisciplinary approach — integrating finance theory, quantitative methods, technology, ethics, and sustainability. It is the only MBA in Ghana that specifically focuses on assets and wealth management, with a special emphasis on emerging financial issues such as digital finance, fintech, artificial intelligence, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investing. The programme incorporates teaching pedagogy as required by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
