About the Programme

The Bachelor of Arts in Applied French and Communication is a bilingual and career-oriented degree programme that blends corporate French with communication principles and practice in order to prepare students for communication-related careers in bilingual and multicultural settings. The programme responds to the growing need for bilingual graduates who can take up communication and liaison roles in corporate and international environments where French and English are valuable assets. This programme goes beyond French language learning to prepare graduates to function as effective bilingual communicators, supporting engagement between multinational partners and local institutions.

This programme places strong emphasis on the practical application of corporate French and communication principles in a range of professional fields such as: Tourism and hospitality, international trade and cross-border business, international relations and diplomacy and international development communication.

The programme prepares graduates for the following employment positions in local and international organizations where bilingual communication competence is required: Liaison officer, Protocol Officer, Communications officer, Embassy / Diplomatic Support Staff, Guest Relations Executive,  International Relations Officer, etc.

Entry Requirements

Admission Requirements for local applicants

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): WASSCE applicants must have at least credit passes (i.e. grade A1-C6) in three core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies, Elective French and any two other subjects with an aggregate score of 24 or better.
  • Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE): SSSCE applicants must have at least credit passes (i.e. grade A-D) in three core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies, Elective French and any two other subjects with an aggregate score of 24 or better.
  • University/Tertiary Diploma: Applicants in possession of a University/Tertiary Diploma with a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of at least 2.99 from any accredited University/Institution in Ghana must show evidence of at least A2 proficiency level in French if their programme of study was not French.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): HND holders with at least Second Class (Lower Division) from any accredited University/Institution in Ghana must show evidence of at least A2 proficiency level in French if their programme of study was not French.

Admission Requirements- International applicants

  • International Applicants with at least Baccalaureate 1 may be admitted after they authenticate their certificates at the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) of Ghana
  • International Applicants with other qualifications from their home countries may be admitted after the equivalence of these qualifications have been determined by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) of Ghana and submitted to the University.
